The Best Films You Never Saw

In this fun-filled film festival accompanied by fabulous food, students watched classic films, learned life lessons, and shared delicious treats.  We watched Star Wars and discussed literary archetypes and world view; My Fair Lady for gender issues and happy endings; High Noon for decision-making in the face of evil; Empire of the Sun for living through difficult times, and Pride and Prejudice for building lasting relationships.  For an extra layer of fun, the movies were paired with theme-based treats, and students cooked and shared new foods. We had Asian egg rolls with Empire of the Sun, home-made scones for tea time with My Fair Lady, and chicken and dumplings with the western, High Noon.  It was a great week getting to know new friends, discuss literature and life, and sample new foods!
