Operation Christmas Child boxes fill up the hallways

During advisory, middle and upper school students assembled boxes, filled and packed them up while listening to Christmas music and eating donuts. Our final box count was 452. Thanks to everyone who provided gifts, boxes and shipping money!

A story from the desk of Nathanael Mattay, Campus Life and Ministry Director:

While collecting Operation Christmas Child boxes from all of our teachers, one of the students helping collect them held one in her hands and said ‘just think about this…I am literally holding somebody’s Christmas in my hands.’ This idea had not occurred to me. Yes, I knew that these boxes would be going to kids that might not get another Christmas gift. However, Christmas to me, is not just about the gifts. It’s about the joy and holiday spirit in the air. It is about the smiles on other people’s faces as they open gifts. It is of course first, about recognizing and praising God for coming to earth as a humble baby to save us all from our sins. This is what a child receives when they open an Operation Christmas Child box. Although filling a shoe box with gifts and donating $7 to send across the world may not seem like a big deal to you, for the child in a far off country who receives this gift, this box is Christmas.
