“Fishin’ to Start”

MRozell(TA)-2

From the desk of Michelle Rozell, Upper School Principal:

The newly formed Brook Hill Bass Fishing Club has taken off!  Our school will be part of the Texas High School Bass Association who hosts five tournaments for each region of the state during the regular season followed by the regional and state tournaments held in the spring of next year.  The top fifty teams will advance to regionals and could continue on to the state tournament where they have the opportunity to earn college scholarships. Each team consist of 2 student fishermen on a boat driven by a boat captain.

Some of our Brook Hill fishermen attended the first bass tournament at Lake Bob Sandlin near Mt. Pleasant last weekend. Members who participated in this contest were: Senior, Dalton Findley and Juniors, Mac Rose and Grant Goates along with boat captains, Allen Findley and Brad Parish.  There were 170 teams entered in the tournament from schools all over East Texas and our guys competed very well. Congratulations to Mac and Grant who finished 18th overall!

Club advisor, Brad Parish was very impressed with all of the boys’ performances and is very optimistic about Brook Hill’s team this year. Parish expects to have several more Brook Hill students participate in the upcoming tournament on October 8, at Lake of the Pines in Marshall.

All of this happening at The Brook School has “cast” a pleasant shadow on our clubs!
