Exploring Colleges Without Leaving Campus

Juniors had a working lunch this week when they gathered in the Lecture Hall to eat pizza and listen to a presentation by Mrs. Beverly Wheeler from The University of Tulsa. Mrs. Wheeler talked to rising seniors about finding a “good fit” in a college. She talked about the importance of a college having the right feel, having the right programs, and having the right environment. She stressed that there is not a “one size fits all” college or university for all students– it is matter of finding the right campus for each individual student.

Louisiana State University and Centenary College were also on campus this week to visit with students and answer questions about their individual schools. Brook Hill students are encouraged to make it a point to stop by and introduce themselves to college representatives and ask them questions about their possible plans for the future. If students are undecided about what they want to study—or what job they want to have—that is the question they should ask the representative—“What programs do you have that will help me decide what I want to major in?” It is never too early to start researching.
