Third grade learns how to form triangles into circles

Monday, February 19th, Mr. Brown paid third graders a visit in Mrs. Brown’s third grade class. He discussed the use of triangles to create circles. They looked at several geometric designs and then created their own using geoboards and rubber bands. They continued to enjoy creating designs throughout the week.

Third graders practice metric measurements by making their origami frogs jump

On Monday, February 26th, students in Mrs. Brown’s third grade class made origami jumping frogs and in the afternoon, enjoyed the sunshine by measuring frog jump heights and lengths using customary and metric measurements. After collecting the data of 10 jumps they were able to average the lengths and heights of their frog jumps.

Math Olympics

February 23, 2018

Fifteen students from grades 3 -8 competed last Friday in Plano for the area Math Olympics competition. They were a part of 235 students from 15 other schools completing four rounds of questions in either reasoning or computation categories.
