Always Improving
From the desk of Shawn Rhoads, Director of Residence Life:
If you have been around Brook Hill for any length of time you know that continual improvement is a way of life. We are always asking ourselves, “How can we improve our boarding and day students’ educational experience and enhance their quality of student life?” The answer may take the form of a new transportation service, or a new parking lot, more class offerings or a new sport option. Or it may take the form of a new, cool space on campus where students can hang out and enjoy being together. One of the enhancements we made this summer was to capture an outdoor patio space and convert it into an outdoor lounge that we are calling the Upper Deck. We have outfitted this area with greenery, Adirondack chairs, tables for devices or beverages, as well as fire pits and tiki torches for evening events. Of course there are electrical outlets for charging phones, laptops and tablet devices. And there are more plans in the works to continue adding to what already exists, making this an even cooler spot for students to enjoy. To access the Upper Deck students should go upstairs in Lauderdale Hall at the main staircase. At the top of each sets of steps is a door that leads out onto the Upper Deck. With cooler weather just around the corner we trust that more and more students will make use of this area designed just for them.
