Eighth grade cook and compete club

From the desk of Jessica Mize, ACE Director:

Last week, the 8th grade cook and compete club worked together with a focus beyond competition. The group’s emphasis was on appreciation instead of rivalry in the kitchen. Each member worked on an appreciation snack to give the maintenance, kitchen staff and ground’s crew for all of their hard work and service to the Brook Hill community.

Each and every day our ground’s crew, kitchen staff, and maintenance crew serve the Brook Hill community in a big way. Without them our school would not operate at the level of excellence we enjoy as a part of our every day on campus. The students were eager to serve these workers by assembling a snack called “Spicy Cheese Its,” and hand delivered the goodie bags to our faithful service crew. Attached to each bag the students included a copy of the recipe for future reference. See below for the recipe”

Ingredients

  • 2 Boxes of Reduced-Fat Cheese-its/Or one Regular Box and One Reduced-Fat Box
  • Packet of Ranch Mix
  • Half a cup of Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbs Cracked Red Pepper/or, for less spicy, 1 Tbs
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper

Mix all ingredients in a large container and toss several times. Let sit overnight and enjoy the next day.
